Resume
Despite decades of business school’s internationalization, the increasing legitimacy of the Business Management Education (BME) research, and a clear message asserting that context matters in the field, the Latin American & the Caribbean (LATAM) Business Schools continue to be underrepresented in top-tier BME journals. As the uniqueness of the region offers opportunities to test theories and investigate phenomena, this paper aims to understand the nature, motivations, obstacles, impact, and successful cases in BME research of LATAM Business Schools. Due to the topic’s novelty and limited published related information, an exploratory and qualitative study using interviews was designed. 22 Business Schools in 9 LATAM countries participated. Paper starts by presenting an overview of the BME research field, then it highlights salient characteristics of the LATAM context. Following sections include methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions. This paper ends with recommendations and a disclosure of the study limitations and future research.
