Abstract
Eight coordination polymers of silver Ag(I) derived from bidentate coordinating heteroscorpionate ligands, (4-carboxyphenyl)bis(3,5- dimethylpyrazolyl)methane (L4c) and (3-carboxyphenyl)bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl) methane (L3c), have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, ESI-MS, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. By varying the solvent polarity, the protonation state of the uncoordinated carboxylate groups and hence their solid-state interactions can be controlled. While the silver monomers (tectons) possess chirality due to the asymmetric coordination of the achiral ligands to the silver ion, all of the solid-state materials were isolated as racemic mixtures. © 2009 American Chemical Society.
