Abstract
The validity intervals are studied for the different approximation levels of the propagation of the Rayleigh-type optical mixing (RTOM) signal to include the inhomogeneity of the spectral line. Three approximation levels are obtained for the RTOM intensity: the first two are approximate analytical expressions, and the third corresponds to the exact numerical solution. © 1994.
