This article aims to establish how decisive are the factors anxiety, academic self-efficacy and engagement to get good grades in the engineering careers of a public university in Lima (Peru). The sample consisted of 53 university students aged between 17 and 25 years old (M = 20.0, S = 2.0). The results showed that, of the four components of academic engagement (cognitive, emotional, behavioral and agentic), only the first three are determinants for a good grade; also, that low anxiety has a positive impact on self-efficacy and this, in turn, promotes a good rating. Finally, a linear regression analysis was performed, according to which the cognitive component of engagement and academic self-efficacy favorably predicts obtaining good grades.
