Abstract
The present study explored the effect of sociodemographic factors sex (male and female), level of education (primary and secondary) and types of educational management (public and private) on burnout syndrome. 717 school teachers (women, 71.4%), educational level (primary, 53.8), recruited at several institutions (52.6% of private management) in Lima, Peru participated in the study. A standardized sociodemographic datasheet and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) were used to collect data. Through a multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), the results indicated that teacher sex has an effect on emotional exhaustion, whereas educational management has a significant effect on emotional exhaustion and professional efficacy. The implications of the study´s results, limitations, and recommendations are discussed.
