Abstract
Geographic Information Systems are a tool used in tourism planning and management; their study is important because they promote an adequate flow of information about the tourist environment. The purpose of this research is to carry out a bibliometric study that allows analyzing the research trends of the use that has been given to these systems in tourism. The methodology is based on a bibliometric analysis of 177 publications about study selected by a search carried out in the Scopus database with analysis of quantity indicators and publications. As a result, it is observed that the countries that have worked the most on the subject are concentrated in the Asian and European region. The publications have had an important growth in recent years, denoting the interest in studying the subject; accordingly, the most cited journals have a direct relationship with the topic of interest.
