Abstract
Objective: To know the opinions of university students in relation to the censorship of sexually explicit material. An opinion survey of a sample of 842 students of three Peruvian universities was used. Results: 1) women support laws that would prohibit completely pornography on the Internet, whereas men endorse regulating measures designed to protect minors (p (p=0.002); 2) the research hypothesis that a relation between the opinion of university students exists, in favour of freedom of information and the present exhibition of sexually explicit material was confirmed (p<0.001); 3) 28% of the students are in favour of the censorship of publications, and a greater percentage of women showed their agreement (p=0.002); 4) the subscale "Censura/Rechazo" obtained a high level of trustworthiness (a=0.7961), whereas the subscale "Liberalidad" was more moderate (a=0.5312).
