Abstract
Social networks have become a daily element in people’s lives, especially adolescents and young people. For these motives, in order to analyze a user profile, present study aims to analyze predictive influence between the self-esteem, autonomy satisfaction, competence satisfaction, relation satisfaction, psychological well-being, and the social networks use, in Peruvian adolescents from a private university. The sample was of 202 adolescents (140 men (69.3%) and 60 women (29.7%) between 16 and 19 years old (Mage = 17.01, SD = 0.73). Participants reported using social media (Facebook and WhatsApp) between 3 and 17 h a day (Mhours = 11.27, SD = 3.61). The results show that the variables self-esteem, autonomy, relation, and well-being are related to the use of social networks. However, in the main multiple linear regression analyzes, it was observed that only psychological well-being was the predictor variable for the use of social networks (β = 0.31**, p < 0.01).
