Abstract
The study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the creative performance of undergraduate students in engineering production of a higher education institution in Brazil. Therefore, a search of the exploratory survey type with two samples was performed: students in the initial period of the course and; were graduating students. The three cognitive indicators related to divergent thinking proposed by Torrance (fluency, flexibility and originality) possible to compare the performance of creative individuals. As a result, it was found that the educational environment negatively influences the creative performance of students because from the data analysis, the freshmen have creativity rates higher than students who are nearing completion.
