Abstract
Vocabulary is an essential aspect of learning a new language as it ensures a better listening and reading comprehension, although it is often very difficult to learn. Virtual reality coupled with gamification techniques has proven to be an effective and motivating tool in learning new concepts. In this sense, this work presents the prototype of a virtual environment using gamification techniques to learn vocabulary in other languages. The virtual environment was developed in the Unity Platform including realistic and physical characteristics and was tested with high school students. The results obtained were favorable compared to traditional methods and previous works, demonstrating that gamification gives a substantial value in the learning of new words.
