Abstract
With the growth of wind energy conversion systems (WECS), many technologies were developed for them. The use of the switched reluctance generator (SRG) is beginning to gain importance in recent investigations, due to its special characteristics such as low maintenance cost, simple structure and operating capacity at variable speeds. In this paper, a new WECS based on SRG and a quasi Z source inverter (qZ-SI) connected to the electrical grid is proposed. The prominent characteristics of the qZ-SI as continuous current and voltage at the input make possible the use with the SRG that also has continuous generation voltage, also the boost-buck capacity of the qZ-SI that allows the transfer of energy to the electrical utility in a only stage of energy conversion. Direct power control with internal current control over the θoff it is performed on the SRG. The simulations were performed in the software SimPowerSystems of Matlab/Simulink.
