Abstract
Currently, eye diseases are a serious problem in our society, their incidence and prevalence are constantly growing. Worldwide, it is estimated that approximately 1.3 billion people live with visual impairment, 39 million are blind, of which 80% of all cases could have been avoided. Digital image processing is the set of techniques that are applied to images, to improve quality or facilitate the search for information within them. One of the main areas that are gaining importance in the implementation of these techniques is medicine because, with this processing, assistance can be given in the diagnosis of different eye diseases. The objective of this work is to be able to assist in the diagnosis of eye diseases using pre-processing, segmentation, extraction of characteristics and classification of these images. When evaluating 120 images, the result obtained from the processing gave us 86.63% accuracy when detecting possible eye disease.
