Abstract
In the Santa Anna field soil losses varied from 2 to 5 tons/ha/yr. In the San Ramon field losses were higher, 2 to 15 tons/ha yr, due to higher rainfall. Continuous fallow practice protects the soil efficiently. The high losses came from continuous planting, a short period of fallow and burning before the next planting. - A. Young
