Abstract
Objective: To analyse the psychometric properties of a measurement of academic self-efficacy in Mexican health sciences students. Method: The study included 244 (67.2% women) Mexican health sciences students who were evaluated with the Specific Perceived Self-efficacy Scale of Academic Situations (SPSSAS) and the Emotional Tiredness Scale (ETS), oriented towards the evaluation of academic emotional exhaustion (AEE). The internal structure of SPSSAS and the relationship with the measurement of AEE, as well as the score and construct reliability, were evaluated using an analytical-factorial approach. Results: The one-dimensional structure received support, although it was necessary to remove item 9. In addition, the SPSSAS had a negative and significant association with the AEE measurement. Finally, score reliability and construct reliability reached high magnitudes. Conclusion: The SPSSAS has favourable psychometric properties: one-dimensional structure, consistent association with the measurement of AEE, and high reliability.
