Abstract
Metallurgical companies must focus on improving efficiency and productivity in their production process because, through this approach, they can be competitive. It is important considering that metallurgy is a sector on which other manufacturing sectors such as construction, automotive, and electricity depend. This article proposes a productivity improvement model designed for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the metallurgical sector based on process standardization, Six Sigma, and total productive maintenance. The objective of the model is to reduce production losses, thereby increasing productivity; this was applied in a pilot plan model in which the reduction of the level was achieved at 2.5% and an improvement in productivity of 11%.
