Abstract
The growing population of disabled people including the elderly, continues to rise. These people often suffer from discrimination and inferiority which causes a lack of opportunity and inclusion in society. This group is for people with traumatic spinal cord injury, better known as paraplegia. Whose quality of life is very critical depending on the severity of the injury, available resources, acceptance of the injury and particularly the level of independence. There later researches that shows when a person is dependent from others, increases the likelihood that suffer more illness and depression affecting your life. This research will present an alternative to improve the degree of independence and, consequently, the quality of life of paraplegic, plus include socially. Designing and building a humanoid service robot that is controlled by that person to perform their daily tasks from anywhere in your home, can be easily integrated into any environment and respond successfully adapted to the needs of a broad spectrum of people with disabilities, not necessarily persons with paraplegia. This project was developed to obtain the professional degree of mechatronic engineering at Ricardo Palma University.
