Abstract
This paper presents the Latin American Open Textbook Initiative, which aims to help to solve the problem of the high cost of textbooks for higher education in Latin America. The main goal is the creation of a supporting architecture, methodologies and policies for the dissemination of cooperative open textbooks aimed for higher education, customized specifically for the region. © 2011 IEEE.
