Abstract
The availability of the wind resource in Peru is being studied for its enhancement, therefore this article analyzes the potential of wind energy from a site located in the south of Peru (Juliaca), using 2018 wind data at a height of 10 meters above ground level. Two numerical methods were used to estimate the parameters of the Weibull distribution function and the power density was calculated for each month. The results of both methods were validated and showed good fit and little difference, this according to the Chi-square statistic, and the Pearson's correlation coefficient. The proposed location is appropriate for low power wind power generation and the proposed methodology can be used elsewhere.
