Abstract
An alternative communication system is necessary on areas without telecommunication services or in disaster environment, technologies with low energy consumption and long coverage range such as (LoRa WAN), allow communication in this type of situation. The communication module proposed is a point for the instant messaging system and is based in two TTGO LoRa 32 devices, one for transmission (TX) and the another for reception (RX), both TTGLO LoRa 32 devices should be configured on different channel to avoid interference and to not send messages to itself. The energy consumption of the system was evaluated sending messages every 5 seconds, obtaining an average value of 0.048A and a median of 0.04A. When the system is in transmission mode it consumes more energy. The tests were made placing the communication modules on earth's surface, the results were successful, sending and receiving messages. In disaster environment, this is very useful, because users can use this module in their hands to send messages for help and warning. The instant messaging system can be used also in zones without telecommunication services like remote rural areas and between vessels in oceans and large lakes.
