Abstract
An analysis of 58 patients with Stage III carcinoma of the cervix who were treated between 1964 and 1977 with whole pelvis irradiation and four brachytherapy applications is presented. The five-year corrected actuarial survival rate was 70.5 % with a low rate of acute and delayed important complications (only one patient with a proctovaginal fistula required surgical treatment). We suggest that our technique produced these results and diminished the pelvic failures. © 1981.
