Abstract
The study of intellectual capital (IC) in organizations and critical IC, in particular, is not an easy task, as many organization members find it difficult to first determine the organization’s intellectual capital and then differentiate between ordinary knowledge and critical knowledge. Yet, such an understanding is viewed as important for the organization to use their IC in the best possible way. Against this background, the purpose of this chapter is to introduce and discuss the usefulness of running exercises to identify critical IC in organizations. The focus is on the identification of IC through the application of software that was developed to determine IC concentration in certain departments or with certain individuals. The application, which is carried out within a small group of people, provides the fundamental basis for talking about IC and thus makes it possible to distinguish between ordinary IC and critical IC.
