Abstract
The epimastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi hydroxylate drugs at substantial rates. The activity, which is of the mixed-function oxidase type, is increased by phenobarbital and is inhibited by CO, SKF 525-A, and metyrapone. The hydroxylalion is paralleled by increases in free and membrane-bound ribosomes.
