Abstract
Lima is a city that almost concentrates a third part of the population of Peru. On 20th century was affected by three severe earthquakes in 1940, 1966, 1974. In the last two earthquakes la Molina district was the most affected due to geotechnical and topographic conditions that produce a phenomenon of site effect with spectral acceleration amplification of five. Under the agreement between the Municipality of la Molina district and CISMID/FIC/UNI, the study of the seismic vulnerability of the district was developed. The study consists of two parts: geotechnical studies and essential buildings and housing vulnerability. The present paper reports the procedure used for the evaluation of the seismic vulnerability of housing. A survey of the housing and its typology was carried out, as well as studying technical files that would typify the houses by their stiffness. Based on these results, models of non-linear behavior of the houses for each one of the zones of study took place generating seismic responses based on their period. Therefore, vulnerability curves were generated considering the site effect of soils of la Molina, as well as the type of housing. The results were implemented on a GIS system locating the sectors that would be affected by a severe quake, as well as tool for the disaster mitigation of future earthquakes.
