Abstract
We report two cases of pancreatitis secondary to cytomegalovirus infections which were tested by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Other causes were ruled out by laboratory findings. Both patients were treated with ganciclovir and improved clinically and as indicated by laboratory findings. This condition should not be ignored in HIV-positive patients in spite of the absence of the clinical characteristics of acute pancreatitis. © 2014 Asociaciones Colombianas de Gastroenterología, Endoscopia digestiva, Coloproctología y Hepatología.
