Abstract
In this paper the induction motor is modeled in order to analyze the steady state and transient behavior and assess the characteristics of the electromagnetic torque and efficiency depending on the load. The finite element method is applied for solving the magnetic field equations throughout the x-y plane of the machine, taking into account the physical characteristics of the induction motor and, mainly incorporating the effect of the nonlinear characteristic of the core. This methodology will allow assessing the parameters of the machine more accurately than conventional methods to determine the parameters.
