Abstract
The Hospital of the Five Wounds of the city of Seville was instituted to attend the poor patients and due to the separation of sexes a women's infirmary was created to take care to them. «Mothers» and «daughters» worked in a sort of feminine cloister at the Hospital for more that three centuries. The object of this article is the «Elder Mother», responsable of the women's area of the hospital, who looked after the infirmary and the feminine quarters, that resembled a cloister, since the access of men, either lay o clergy was barred by a completely separated access.
