Abstract
In the present investigation a numerical simulation code that uses Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) turbulence model and a partially stirred reactor (PaSR) reaction model was adapted to used large eddy simulation (LES). The LES model represents the dynamic structure of the large scale vorticity better than unsteady RANS model, and better results are expected for future combustion stability studies. Three different LES models are tested, the classic Smagorinsky model, the one equation model and the dynamics model. Results show good agreement with experimental results, but a dependence on choice of reaction mechanism was observed.
