Abstract
Starting from certain premises on the role of science and technology in development, this essay examines five components of a strategy for endogenous scientific and technological (S'T) development, suggesting concerete measures and possible lines of action. The last section offers some remarks on the way these measures, and the principles behind them, may be examined and dealt with in the context of the 1979 United Nations Conference on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD) and other subsequent international meetings on similar or related issues. © 1979, SAGE Publications.
