Abstract
Organophosphorus pesticides are used in agricultural activities because they are effective in the control of various pests; however, their residual nature in soils makes it necessary to promote the development of rapid methods for their identification and quantification. Therefore, in the present investigation, an ultrasound-assisted method was developed for the extraction of chlorpyrifos and profenofos from soils and their subsequent quantification by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The method proved to be linear with determination coefficients R2 greater than 0.999, precise with variation coefficients less than 2.7 % and accurate with recovery percentages close to 100 %. The limits of detection and quantification were 0.0484 and 0.0795 mg/kg respectively for chlorpyrifos and 0.0477 and 0.1450 mg/kg respectively for profenofos. The method was simple, fast and can be used in degradation studies or for education purposes in natural sciences.
