Abstract
One way to diagnose the wear of electrical equipments is to identify the occurrence of partial discharges. From the detection of partial discharges, the maintenance of defective equipment can be programmed. Thus, the reliability of the system is increased and the chances of interruption decrease. Additionally, the information provided by partial discharge signals can be used to estimate the location of the source. In this work, we present a hybrid radiometric localization based on the energy and time of arrival of these signals. Using a two-dimensional ray tracing simulation model loaded with the map of a high voltage substation, this new technique was compared with two techniques based on the difference of the time-of-arrival of the signal at different receivers. Despite the reduced complexity, the hybrid technique has lower performance than those based on arrival times.
