Abstract
This work explores a) the use of e-health systems in the context of palliative care and b) the information needs of patients, care givers and healthcare professionals in palliative care. To achieve this we conducted a systematic literature review and interviewed health professionals in Germany, Peru, and Chile. All countries have in common that specific e-health systems are rarely used in this context and the presence of a gradient of available care between rural and urban areas. © 2013 IMIA and IOS Press.
