Abstract
The objective of this article is to investigate the renewable energy sources of hybrid wind-photovoltaic systems for a rural house isolated from the electricity grid in Paucarcolla, Peru. The wind and solar potential are evaluated with data from available sources such as SENAMHI and NASA. The Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewables (HOMER) program was used to optimize the hybrid photovoltaic wind power system. The result of the analysis is a list of possibilities to supply energy; a cost of 0.335/kWh was also obtained for the energy of the hybrid photovoltaic wind power system, which shows an economic feasibility to implement the system at the study site.
