Abstract
In this paper we present a new software library that automatically downloads, extracts, renames and uses statistical method to detect inospheric anomalies around the globe using IONEX files provided by The Center for Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE). The tool is called IONEX CODE-Database Processing Tool (ICPT), and It was developed to enhance access and deliver quick graphical results to recognize ionospheric anomalies at a globe scale. The main input is the date which is choosen by the user, then the program connects to the CODE FTP server and iteratively downloads files which corresponds to the user-date. This automatic process improves the downloading time needed instead of retrieving data manually from the server. Next, the downloaded files are combined into one matrix to continue the statistics method. The last step is to provide differential VTEC maps as a main output. The tool was developed enterily in Python because It has available package and source of information to improve the tool. Additionally, researchers may have an easy map-result for their own investigations. The main concept and structure of the processing tool can be modified for other web databases hosting IONEX data. To validate the ICPT results, we used the date April 27, 2017 geomagnetic storms where it was found one disturbance in the southern hemisphere. Methodology of software tool and differential VTEC maps is presented.
