Abstract
A full-vectorial finite-element propagation method, spurious mode free, with off-diagonal elements in the permittivity tensor is presented for the first time. Comparison with experimental data obtained from the alignment of the principal cues in birefringent fibers validates the method. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
