Abstract
Weeds can be considered as hosts of root-lesion nematode (Pratylenchus spp.), maintaining or increasing their population in the soil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the reaction of 25 weed species to the nematode Pratylenchus brachyurus. The weed plants were individually inoculated with 1,000 individuals of P. brachyurus, maintained in a greenhouse for 90 d. After that period, eggs and nematodes were extracted and quantified, and the reproduction factor (RF = final population/initial population) was calculated. Of the 25 weed species that were tested, 24 were good hosts (RF > 1) for P. brachyurus. Raphanus raphanistrum was resistant to P. brachyurus (RF < 1).
