The objective of this article is to describe the sources of financing handled for the sustainability of community radiosin the Maracaibo municipality, taking as a base the postulates of Lamas (2003). The study is descriptive and uses a compilation of information from semi-structured interviews. Six (6) directorsofcommunity radios enabledby CONATEL in 2011 were interviewed. It was possible to confirm that they handle some sources of financing; nevertheless, it is necessary to extend these in order to guarantee sustainability of the radios and guarantee the use of this communicational tool in benefit of the communities.
