Abstract
A method of estimating position using intermittent measurements is proposed. Intermittent measurements are measurements which are invalid under certain circumstances. The method is a modification of Kalman estimation in which a simple system model is assumed and the assumed error covariance of the measurements is manipulated to reflect the intermittency. The Kalman filter format with an assumed system model allows for approximate state estimation even when too few sensors are valid to make a single step state estimate.
