Abstract
The high geographical and economic diversity of Peru encourages the development of large projects that involve the use of natural resources that the territory presents. Of the megaprojects scheduled for the following years, more than 80% are financed by foreign investment. Nevertheless, in the last 5 to 8 years, more than 75% are behind due to various factors. These delays in the execution of megaprojects represent a large amount of money lost for the organization that finances them and great dissatisfaction among the impact population. Therefore, it is considered necessary to identify the risks and critical factors faced by megaprojects in Peru, as well as the development of a compendium of best practices to guide their execution, with the aim of mitigating negative impacts. This research collects the opinion of 9 experts in megaproject management and uses the Delphi method in order to achieve a forward-looking consensus of their various statements, which, added to the analysis of what has been carried out, will allow determining those best practices that will help to reduce risks and control critical factors. It will be analyzed 15 megaprojects in Peru that have presented certain difficulties during their execution in the last 15 years.
