Abstract
In many cases, there are no resources necessary to have large laboratories related to aerospace technology, to train new professionals in aerospace engineering. Faced with this problem, it is necessary to look for alternatives, open-source and low cost, for the training of future professionals with interest in the aerospace field. Those options are GMAT and OpenApp, tools available to academic entities for educational purposes and mission preparation. In Peru, both at the Universidad de Ciencias y Humanidades and the Universidad Nacional Tecnológica de Lima Sur, these tools are beginning to be used to train professionals in electronic engineering, especially in courses related to satellite technology. The results obtained are promising, having already published scientific articles showing the progress made. Most of the students are motivated by these tools, and 97.4 per cent did not know them before. Also, students would like to see the creation of an undergraduate program in aerospace engineering in Peru soon.
