Abstract
This article aims to calculate the burned area and analyze the environmental impact of the forest fire. The primary objective is to use postfire satellite imagery to extract burn indices such as the normalized burn ratio (NBR) and the normalized burn ratio—thermal (NBRT1) to identify areas that have been more affected due to the fire. Remote sensing is a powerful tool for detecting, monitoring, and calculating the damage caused by forest fires. The technical advances of the sensors and the affordability of satellite images have opened up the possibility of applying this type of tool has been opened to collect information quickly and efficiently from the affected areas for decision-making in Bolivia.
