Abstract
The study examines the relationship between the political orientation and the psychological dimensions of conservatism (resistance to change and acceptance of inequality) in six Western and eight Latin-American cultures. The political orientation was measured through two indicators -The left-right self-position and the attitudes to income equality-, and the conservatism was measured through the personal values relate to Conservation and Self-promotion. The results indicate that both dimensions of conservatism are related, in a consistent way in Western cultures, but in Latin-America didn't find a clearly association. The results were discussed in the light of cross-cultural evidence in Political Psychology.
