Abstract
The Toyota Production System ( TPS ) or Lean Production ( LP ) presents a philosophy composed by a set of principles and tools that can enable companies to become lean and agile to respond to market needs . The article aims to apply the tools of the LP through the use of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) in order to eliminate waste in the processing of a Brazilian textile process. Therefore, a diagnosis of the current state was proposed and presented a future map with the prediction of the application of tools and techniques of the LP. The analysis was conducted through a case study with direct observation to collect data relating to the flow studied. From this it was possible to analyze the value stream, identify waste, select tools for improvement and discuss the expected benefits in the production system studied. Finally, the application of lean tools resulted in benefits that enabled it to be systematized and compared with the results already arranged in the literature, which resulted in the presentation of the importance of these tools to the global context of organizations worldwide.
