Abstract
An angular unconformity, due to a Paleocene tectonic event, has been evidenced in the Altiplano of S Bolivia (Rio Honda, between Atocha and Mina San Vicente), and new results in the study of Andean intermountane basins are incompatible with classical ideas about Andean geodynamic evolution. According to these ideas, the Andean evolution is characterized by short periods of strong compressive tectonic activity, separated by long periods of volcanism and sedimentation. We suggest another model of evolution.-from English summary
