Abstract
Software Project Management (PM) relies on software tools. These tools must be selected according to the needs and characteristics of each company, especially when resources are limited, which is rather common for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The purpose of this paper is to propose a selection model aimed at supporting software-developing SMEs in the selection of PM tools. This model encompasses 11 selection criteria and 94 metrics; the research was based on the Action Research approach, and the criteria were formulated in accordance with Goal Question Metric. The model was evaluated by eight SMEs' PM experts through the Feature Analysis-Survey method, according to pertinence, feasibility and applicability features. The results obtained helped configuring a selection model aligned with SMEs' PM support needs. © 2010 IEEE.
