Abstract
The breakthroughs in medicine, changes in population dynamics, epidemiological transitions and the increase of chronic diseases cause the increase in spending on health systems and the failure of the structures of the hospital system. An alternative solution to these problems is the home health care, known as "Home Care". The role of clinical engineering in home care is a challenge to the specialty, we show here: an analysis of the current situation, problems and perspectives. We work with an adaptation of the methodology of strategic analysis SWOT and show a proposal to guide the activities of clinical engineering in the multidisciplinary teams of home care. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
