Abstract
The aim of this study was evaluate the productive and reproductive performance of different racial groups in dual purpose systems in the Middle Sinu Valley of the department from Cordoba, Colombia. Data of milk production by lactation (MPL), duration of lactation (DL), weaning weight (WW), calving interval (CI) and age at first calving (AFC) from 4 farms and 5 breed groups (F1, Gyr x F1 x F1 Brahman, Inter-se and absorbent) were used. Data were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis test. The animals with higher MPL were the absorbent crossbred (1829 liters) and F1 (1742 liters). Animals with shorter DL were absorbent crossbred (288 days), inter-se (298 days), and F1 x Brahman (299 days). Animals with lower WW were the animals of absorbent crossbred (138 kg). The smaller CI and AFC were presented by animals Brahman x F1 (495 days) and F1 (34 months), respectively. This indicates that the genetic groups and the feeding and management systems influence the productive and reproductive traits in dual purpose systems in tropical conditions in Colombia.
