Based on laboratory observations, a paleohydrological technique is proposed. It consists of discharge estimation based upon field observations of scour holes produced by impinging jets in natural intermittent streams. A general formula for calculating the depth of the scour hole is used as a basis, and a methodology for conducting research is proposed.
