The characterization of domestic animals is a fundamental tool for its conservation and sustainable use. The objective of the present work was characterize morphologically the Cuban Creole donkey. 93 issues belonging to Granma province, Cuba were studied, of them 51 were females. 23 morphologic measurements were made, at the head's regions (4), trunk (14) and extremities (5) were obtained using a standard measuring stick and a nonelastic measuring tape and 11 morphologic indexes were calculated from these body measurements. Data were subjected to variance analysis (ANOVA) for simple classification of completely randomized design. Were appreciated a moderated sexual dimorphism in favour of the males, the ones that proved to be significantly superior (P>0,001) for the Heights to the withers ( 107 to 110 ), Back ( 106 to 108 ), sternal ( 64 to 66 ), rump (106,8 to 109,9) and to the Pelvic ( 108 to 112 cm ). However, the rump width was statistically higher (P>0,05) in the female. Were observed statistical differences of significance (P>0,001) in favour of the males for the index 1; 4 and pectoral Height. It is concluded that the Cuban Creole donkey are dolichocephalic, elongated front with straight or slightly sub-convex profile, medium ears and straight, with the longilinear body, elipometric and of convex rump, which it translates in a more proportionate, balanced and harmonic constitution and a good ability to work.
