Abstract
An efficient numerical scheme to simulate tropospheric ducting propagation (TDP) is presented in this paper. This scheme solves the parabolic equation (PE) approximation in conjunction with the finite-element method (FEM) and the local transparent boundary condition (LTBC). It is shown that a simple LTBC can be effectively used to account for the radiation in TDP, instead of the recently published nonlocal transparent boundary condition (NTBC), which is much more complex and consumers more computer time.
