Abstract
In various educational studies, it is confirmed test anxiety is higher in women than in men, especially in the engineering careers, representing the need to also analyze differences according to careers. For this reason, the objective of the present research was to identify the test anxiety levels and academic performance in women students and males of two careers of engineering of two public universities. 144 students were polled between 16 and 22 years of age (Mage = 17.78, SD = 1.40). There informed 70 (47.9%) students of System Engineering career (45 males (64.3%) and 25 women (35.7%)). And 74 (52.1%) was of Civil Engineering (51 males (68.9%) and 23 women (31.1%)). Finally, it concluded the Civil Engineering women possess major anxiety levels before examinations; and in System Engineering not. Also, in both careers, there were no significant differences in academic performance.
